tDCS (transcranial Direct Current Stimulation) is a new innovative treatment method. A mild electric current (1-2mA) modulates the sensitivity of our neurons.
In this way, we purposefully stimulate or slow down certain parts of our brain so that they start working in a more balanced way again and stimulate recovery.
This technique is recommended after brain injuries (f.ex. aphasia) and in case of depression and is only applied on prescription by and in consultation with the neurologist.
Practical: The therapist places two electrodes on the scalp through which the mild current is conducted for 20 min. Apart from a slight tingling sensation in the first 15 seconds, you don’t feel any discomfort. During the 20 min of stimulation, you receive targeted training in function of the therapeutic objective.
We also provide portable devices for at home stimulation.
