Language, speech, voice

After a brain injury, your SPEECH may become less intelligible because the muscles of lips, tongue, palate are weakened or the motor signals from your brain are disrupted (dysarthria or speech apraxia).

Another consequence may be that your VOICE doesn’t sound the same anymore, because your vocal cords no longer function as they used to (vocal cord weakness or paralysis).

Our treatment consists of a combination of muscle strength training, re-teaching proper movements and compensation techniques.

Since regular training is crucial for good results, we offer a combination of in-office therapy, online training with therapist and independent online training (using mirroring apps).

LANGUAGE can also be (seriously) disturbed after a brain injury (aphasia): difficulty in finding the right words, problems in forming sentences, reduced language comprehension, difficulties in reading and/or writing. Based on test results on the one hand and expectations and needs of our patient on the other hand, we set up a goal-oriented and engaging therapy program.

Regular training is crucial for a good result, therefore we offer a combination of therapy in our practice, online training with our therapist and independent online training.

In consultation with the neurologist, this therapy can be combined with tDCS for optimal effect.
